One of my first memories of drawing has to be at Overton Primary school. I vaguely remember a 'pink book' and a drawing of a yellow horse (unsurprisingly to those who know me) in a field that more closely resembled a box with hair, surrounded by a green mist.
My love of drawing grew and grew over the years and it was at secondary school that my skills began to develop and become recognised by teachers. After school i went on to college to study Fine art, Graphic Design & Illustration and English Literature. Here I learnt of composition, colour wheels and how not to paint a watercolour picture.
After the A-levels I went on to do a Foundation Degree in art and design at Basingstoke College of Technology, this is where I learnt more vital skills about textiles, architecture, 3D design, Fine art, Graphic Design and my first encounter with Adobe Photoshop.
Finally I made it to Portsmouth University where I was to study what I had always loved and wanted to do:BA HONS Illustration. I Graduatued in 2009 with honours and now am currently seeking employment in the creative industry.
My interests reside in children’s book illustration, natural history illustration, tattoo design, fantasy illustration, Character design and designing clothing graphics.
As an illustrator I enjoy a challenge and love the new and unusual, my work is fairly traditional as I work predominantly by hand using paints, inks, clay and collage. I have gained new skills through my degree such as working on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Art rage, other skills include pyro-engraving, Calligraphy, printmaking, photography and typography.
My artistic style is incredibly versatile and can quickly adapt to any brief, this I feel is clearly demonstrated throughout my portfolio work.
Alongside Art and design I also love to read both fact and fiction, enjoy listening to all types of music, watching action and comedy films, going to ice-hockey matches, and visiting national trust sites.
